About Tracy City
Tracy City is a Grundy County town that grew from coal, railroads, and the coke ovens around Grundy Lakes. Coal was found here in 1840, and the town later took shape around the Tennessee Coal, Iron and Railroad Company’s work. Today the Fiery Gizzard Trail begins at one end of town, while Dutch Maid Bakery has been baking at the same Main Street address since 1902. Tracy City is South Cumberland in a good local mix: industrial history, mountain trails, and a bakery that has outlasted the furnace.
