About Trail Creek
Trail Creek is a town in LaPorte County within the Michigan City metropolitan area. It grew along the creek that empties toward Lake Michigan and was incorporated in 1924; the town’s history page traces earlier settlement to Roeskeyville, the Michigan Road, a flour mill, and brickmaking based on local clay. The surviving Roeske houses and the Orchard Park street pattern preserve pieces of that industrial and transportation history. Current community life is organized through municipal parks and the town’s connection to Michigan City.
The Trail Creek Parks and Recreation Board maintains Nelson Park and Congdon Park; Congdon, beside Town Hall, has two baseball diamonds, a shelter, picnic tables, and playground equipment. Michigan City’s parks department includes Trail Creek among the area’s public recreation settings and highlights the creek and Lake Michigan shoreline. Schools are part of Michigan City Area Schools, so residents use a mix of town facilities and neighboring-city services. The town park board also publishes a five-year park plan.
