About Tranquillity
Tranquillity is a Fresno County community on the west side of the San Joaquin Valley, ten miles southeast of Mendota. The post office opened in 1910, and the place later got a very 1970s pop-culture moment when Hee Haw saluted the town on television, with Buck Owens noting its population. These days the name still feels like a good fit for a small valley community, though the story is more about fields, school, and valley roads than a postcard fantasy. Tranquillity is west-central California in a farm-and-TV story.
