About Travelers Rest

Travelers Rest is a city in Greenville County, South Carolina, located ten miles north of Greenville at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. A 1794 South Carolina General Assembly appropriation funded a wagon road north through the community into the Blue Ridge Mountains toward Asheville and East Tennessee, establishing the town as a waypoint for travelers. The community of approximately 8,400 is the northern terminus of the Swamp Rabbit Trail and is served by Greenville County Schools.
