About Tremont

Tremont is a Schuylkill County borough in the eastern part of Tremont Township, incorporated in 1866 as the local anthracite economy was taking shape. A water system was built around the same period, and the community later developed around iron works, a post office, small businesses, and the roads linking the Wiconisco and Pine Grove areas. The borough sits in a narrow valley landscape where hills, old industrial sites, and creek corridors still set the scale.

Today, Tremont Borough Hall, the local library, road department, volunteer services, and Pine Grove Area School District provide the basic civic framework. The district’s elementary, middle, and high schools serve Tremont alongside Pine Grove and nearby townships, so school geography crosses borough lines. Current borough notices include road, yard-waste, and community updates, while Pine Grove supplies many nearby services and water connections. Tremont’s local scoop is the water-and-industry pairing: a small borough whose early infrastructure and anthracite-era work remain visible in the present municipal map.
