Trufant, MI

Trufant is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Maple Valley Township, Montcalm County, Michigan, United States. The 2020 census counted 510 residents. Emery Trufant built the first water-powered sawmill here in 1872. Hileman and Jacob Hesser, who later built a steam-powered mill on the site. Trufant makes sense once you see how its past, landscape, and current gathering spots overlap. Trufant is in western Montcalm County, in the southeast part of Maple Valley Township. Trufant is 11 miles southeast of Howard City, 15 miles northeast of Cedar Springs, and 13 miles northwest of Greenville.
