Turner, ME

Turner is the primary village and census-designated place in the larger Town of Turner, Androscoggin County, where it sits on the Nezinscot River. The 2020 census counted 544 residents. Maine Routes 4 and 117 cross just west of the village center; Route 4 leads south toward Auburn and north toward Livermore Falls, while Route 117 runs toward Buckfield and the northern part of Turner. Leavitt Area High School, the town office, local shops, and river roads give the village its working map.

The Nezinscot once powered Turner mills, and the village dam remains a visible part of the river corridor. Below the dam, brown trout fishing and whitewater boating share the water with canoeing and farm fields along the banks. The larger town includes Turner Center and North Turner, with the Androscoggin River forming the eastern border and Lewiston-Auburn supplying regional jobs, shopping, and medical services. The village also connects to town trails, snowmobile routes, and seasonal river recreation. Turner CDP is a compact Maine village whose life is tied to the river, the school, and the roads leading out to the larger Androscoggin Valley.
