Tuskegee, AL

Located about 40 miles east of Montgomery, Tuskegee is a quiet Alabama town deeply rooted in African American history and higher education. With around 9,000 residents, the community revolves around Tuskegee University, the renowned historically Black institution developed by Booker T. Washington in the late 19th century. The town is also celebrated as the home of Moton Field, where the legendary Tuskegee Airmen trained during World War II, a proud heritage preserved at a local national historic site.
