About Twentynine Palms

Twentynine Palms is a Mojave Desert city in San Bernardino County and one of the main gateways to Joshua Tree National Park. Colonel Henry Washington made the first recorded exploration of the area and encountered Chemehuevi people living there. The city also sits next to Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, giving it a strong military presence alongside tourism and desert life. Roads such as Utah Trail point toward the park, while the surrounding landscape is defined by open desert, mountains, and big skies.
