About Two Rivers

Two Rivers is a Fairbanks North Star Borough community spread along miles 13 through 25 of Chena Hot Springs Road, northeast of Fairbanks. The settlement follows the upper Chena River near the Little Chena, with homes, small businesses, and wooded lots spread along the road without a traditional town center. Fairbanks, North Pole, Eielson Air Force Base, and Fort Wainwright form the working map for many residents, so the community's day-to-day life reaches well beyond its rural-looking address.

The river and winter trails give Two Rivers its strongest local signature. Chena River State Recreation Area follows the road farther east, with grayling fishing, campgrounds, hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, and the Chena Hot Springs Winter Trail. Dog teams use the winter routes, and mushing is woven into the community's identity through races, kennels, and businesses along the corridor. The Iditarod Trail is part of the wider Alaskan story, but Two Rivers has its own version of it: a dispersed neighborhood network, a river valley, and a road where summer boats, winter sleds, military commutes, and Fairbanks errands all share the same long line.
