Ulysses is a city and the county seat of Grant County, Kansas, named in honor of U.S. President Ulysses S. Grant. First established in 1885 and relocated two miles west in 1909 to resolve town debts, the high-plains agricultural center of approximately 5,476 is served by the Ulysses Unified School District 214 locally today.
