Unionville, GA

Unionville is a Tift County census-designated place in south Georgia, where the 2020 census counted 1,688 residents. The community occupies about three-quarters of a square mile of land near Tifton, with a compact boundary inside the county’s agricultural landscape. Its name dates to the 1880s, when the Union Lumber Company gave the settlement its identity. That lumber connection places Unionville in the timber-and-rail development that shaped many south Georgia communities. The name also preserves a small piece of the county’s working-town history.

Unionville remains part of Tift County’s school and service network. Tift County Schools serves students from Unionville alongside Tifton, Omega, Phillipsburg, and Ty Ty, with elementary, middle, and high schools centered across the county. The CDP’s 2020 count was overwhelmingly Black, a demographic fact that belongs to the community’s present-day story and its local institutions.
