About Urbancrest

Urbancrest is a tiny village tucked between Grove City and Columbus, just south of the I-270 outerbelt. Home to around a thousand residents and spanning just over half a square mile, it has the feel of a quiet, close-knit neighborhood. Living here offers a peaceful, small-town atmosphere while keeping you only minutes from downtown Columbus, nearby shopping, and South-Western City Schools.

The community also carries a rich, proud history. Founded in the late 1800s as a Black settlement, Urbancrest made national headlines in 1971 when Ellen Walker Craig-Jones was elected mayor, becoming the first African American woman elected mayor by popular vote in the country. That deep-rooted pride and local identity still shape the village today as the greater Columbus area continues to grow around it.
