Utqiaġvik, formerly known as Barrow, is the borough seat and largest city of the North Slope Borough, Alaska. Located north of the Arctic Circle, it is the northernmost city in the United States. The area has been home to the indigenous Iñupiat people for over fifteen hundred years, preserving a rich Inuit cultural heritage. Utqiaġvik serves as the administrative and economic center of the borough, which operates as the city's primary employer.
