Uvalda is a quiet, small town in Montgomery County where daily life moves at a relaxed, rural pace. Built around the intersection of Highway 221 and Highway 56, the community originally grew alongside the railroad in the early 1900s and has held onto its peaceful, country character ever since. One of the biggest perks of living here is having the Altamaha River just five miles down the road. Locals head down to Uvalda Landing off Route 221 for weekend boating, fishing, and camping along the water. While Uvalda provides a calm place to call home away from heavy traffic and noise, convenient highway connections make it easy to reach nearby spots like Hazlehurst, Mount Vernon, and Vidalia for work, groceries, and dining.
