Valley Brook, OK

Valley Brook is a tiny enclave tucked entirely inside south Oklahoma City, home to fewer than 700 residents across just a quarter of a square mile. Sitting right near the junction of I-35 and I-240, it gives commuters quick access to downtown OKC while maintaining its own independent municipal identity. If you are driving through the south side, it is easy to miss where Oklahoma City ends and Valley Brook begins, though the town has maintained its own local government and separate borders for decades.

The area started out in the 1930s as worker housing during the local oil boom, eventually incorporating in the 1950s to stay independent from the surrounding metropolis. Today, neighborhood families are zoned to Oklahoma City Public Schools, attending nearby spots like Bodine Elementary and Capitol Hill High School. It remains a small, quiet pocket of the metro where everyday errands, city conveniences, and major highways are all right around the corner.
