Valley Cottage is a Rockland County census-designated place near Rockland Lake and the Hudson River side of the lower Hudson Valley. Its early local story includes John Ryder's farm, while today's strongest landmarks are recreational: Rockland Lake State Park, Twin Ponds Park, and markers around the lake. It feels like a residential community with unusually good access to green space, close enough to Nyack, Congers, and New York City commuting routes to be suburban without losing its park-and-lake setting.
