About Vandalia

Vandalia is a city and the county seat of Fayette County, Illinois, situated along the Kaskaskia River northeast of St. Louis. Serving as the western terminus of the historic National Road and as the state capital of Illinois from 1819 until 1839, the historic community of approximately 5,796 is served by Vandalia Community Unit School District 203.
