Vicco, KY

Vicco was a city in Perry and Knott counties, Kentucky, United States as defined by Kentucky Act Acts Ch. The 2020 census counted 327 residents. On January 16, 2013, Vicco became the smallest city in the United States to pass an ordinance outlawing discrimination based on sexual orientation. The town was dissolved by the Kentucky Department for Local Government on May 20, 2025. Vicco makes sense once you see how its past, landscape, and current gathering spots overlap. Vicco was originally a coal mining town; its name comes from the initials of the Virginia Iron Coal and Coke Company.
