Vici, OK

Vici is a town in Dewey County at the meeting of U.S. 60 and Oklahoma 34. Its present-day location came together around the railroad: the town was platted on September 11, 1911, while buildings were moved toward the tracks of the Wichita Falls and Northwestern Railway. That origin still gives Vici a clear sense of being a high-plains crossroads, with the highway intersection carrying the through traffic and the old rail corridor holding the town's earlier story.

The Vici M-K-T Depot, on Houser Street between Seventh and Eighth, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and keeps that railroad chapter visible in the town itself. Vici Municipal Airport lies about a mile south and has a paved runway, adding another small piece to the community's transportation map. The town was annexed into the High Plains Technology Center district in 2009, connecting local students and workers to regional training. Vici's scale is modest, but its setting is broad: open Dewey County roads, a historic depot, a highway junction, and the larger service network that reaches across northwestern Oklahoma.
