About Vicksburg

Vicksburg is a historic city and the county seat of Warren County, Mississippi, situated on a high bluff along the east bank of the Mississippi River. Originally established by French colonists in 1719, the city of approximately 20,600 incorporated in 1825 and became the site of a pivotal 1863 Civil War siege. Today, Vicksburg hosts three major installations of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and is served by the Vicksburg Warren School District.
