About Victory Gardens

Tucked right alongside Dover in Morris County, Victory Gardens is one of New Jersey’s smallest municipalities, spanning just a handful of residential blocks. The community was established in 1941 to house defense workers during World War II, taking its name from wartime home vegetable gardens and naming its streets after U.S. presidents. Today, around 1,500 residents live in this close-knit borough, making the short trip into neighboring Dover for school drop-offs, commuter trains into Manhattan, and everyday errands.

The original wartime housing has since developed into a quiet mix of modest single-family homes and garden-style apartments, maintaining a walkable layout where neighbors easily bump into one another. It functions much like a cozy pocket neighborhood within greater Morris County, offering an affordable home base close to Route 10 shopping, county parks, and nearby downtown dining.
