Vienna, VA

Vienna’s First Baptist Church was founded in 1867, and its original building used lumber from Union Army barracks obtained through the Freedmen’s Bureau. Six years earlier, the Battle of Vienna became one of the Civil War’s earliest engagements. The 2020 census put the Fairfax County town’s population at 16,562. The Washington & Old Dominion Trail passes through downtown, while the town green and Jammin’ Java present theater and music. Vienna also contains MAE-East, which, with MAE-West, served as one of two major exchange points connecting internet service providers with private, government, and academic networks. Other local institutions include the Freeman Store and Museum and Vienna Inn, which has served hot dogs and beer since 1960.
