Villa Park is a 2.08-square-mile city that is about 99 percent developed with single-family homes. Current zoning requires a minimum net lot area of 20,000 square feet through most of the city. The July 2025 Census estimate was 5,645 residents, 3.5 percent below the April 2020 estimate base. During 2020 through 2024, owner occupancy reached 89.7 percent, and 90.7 percent of residents age one or older had remained in the same home for at least a year. Median owner-occupied value was $1,871,700. Adults age 65 or older accounted for 30.7 percent, median household income was $202,245 in 2024 dollars, and the mean trip to work was 22.9 minutes. The Town Center and recurring events supply much of Villa Park's documented public activity. The Town Center combines a grocery store, banks, shops, offices, City Hall, the council chambers and community room, and a branch of OC Public Libraries.

The library provides public computers and Wi-Fi, lends hotspots and a collection of instruments, technology, toys, and kitchen items, and maintains Spanish-language materials. The community room is reservable for social, cultural, educational, philanthropic, and recreation programs. In 2026, the Villa Park Community Services Foundation scheduled a Lunar New Year celebration at City Hall, an Earth Day collection event, a city 5K and wellness fair, and a Fourth of July parade, picnic, block party, and concert. The annual Dry Land Boat Parade carries the event calendar into residential streets: more than fifty decorated vehicles travel through Villa Park as illuminated 'boats,' with neighborhood watch parties along the route.
