About Vineyard Lake
Vineyard Lake is an unincorporated community and census-designated place spread around its namesake lake in southeastern Jackson County. The 2020 census counted 992 residents. The CDP sits across the corners of Columbia and Norvell townships, with the natural lake connected to the River Raisin system. Its boundaries make the place feel like a lakeside community first and a township address second: roads and shorelines matter more here than a conventional downtown.
Vineyard Lake belongs to a chain of water in the upper Raisin country. Goose Creek links the lake system toward Lake Columbia, Clark Lake, and Norvell Lake, giving the area a shared drainage story and a long list of places that locals use to orient themselves. Columbia Township includes part of the lake and has a broader recreation culture built around its water. Vineyard Lake was first counted as its own CDP in 2010, so its presence on the census map is relatively new even though the shoreline community is older.
