About Vining
Vining began as West Clifton, a town laid out in 1877 beside the Republican River. In 1881 the name changed to Vining in honor of E. Vining. The community sits next to Clifton, where the Clifton Community Historical Society Museum includes Vining history. Today Vining’s school connection runs through Clifton-Clyde USD 224, and the neighboring towns remain part of the Clay and Washington county landscape. Its identity is shaped by a changed name, a nearby river, and a close civic relationship with Clifton.
