About Wabaunsee

Wabaunsee is a quiet riverside community of around a hundred people, tucked just south of the Kansas River in the rolling Flint Hills. Founded in 1855 by settlers from Connecticut who arrived to keep Kansas free of slavery, the area has deep abolitionist roots and ties to the Underground Railroad. You can still visit the historic Beecher Bible and Rifle Church, built from native limestone in 1862. It offers a tranquil country lifestyle surrounded by open landscapes and fascinating local heritage.
