Wacissa, FL

Wacissa is a small unincorporated community and census-designated place in Jefferson County, Florida, United States. The 2020 census counted 362, residents. Wacissa is part of the Tallahassee metropolitan area. Wacissa shares its name with the Wacissa River, the headwaters of which are about one mile to the south. Jefferson County Schools operates public schools, including Jefferson County Middle / High School. That mix gives Wacissa a clear local shape within Florida, with older layers still visible in current places. Wacissa is in western Jefferson County, 16 miles southwest of Monticello, the county seat, and 20 miles southeast of Tallahassee, the state capital.
