About Wading River
Wading River is a North Shore Long Island community split between the towns of Riverhead and Brookhaven. English settlement records go back to a small group of colonial families, and the name reflects the local river and old crossing places. Modern Wading River is residential and coastal, with beaches, wooded roads, farms and vineyards nearby, and access to Wildwood State Park. It feels quieter than the Hamptons or western Suffolk suburbs, but still tied to the larger North Fork and Long Island Sound landscape.
