Wainwright, also known by its traditional Iñupiat name Ulġuniq, is a small coastal village perched along the Chukchi Sea on Alaska's North Slope. Located about 70 miles southwest of Utqiaġvik, it is home to around 600 residents who value their quiet, close-knit environment. With no roads leading into town, travel in and out depends on small planes and summer barge deliveries, giving the community a distinctly self-reliant character.
