About Walbridge

Walbridge is a Wood County village of 3,011 residents in the 2020 census, inside the Toledo metro and built around the rail lines that still give the town its shape. A post office arrived in 1871, the village was platted in 1874, and the Hocking Valley line followed in 1876; a streetcar later linked Walbridge with Toledo, Fostoria, and Findlay. The village’s current map is concrete. Loop Park carries the old recreation story, Railway Park marks the railroad-era civic investment, and Veterans Park sits along Main Street in the heart of town.

The Walbridge Library, a Wood County District Public Library branch, opened in 1987 and includes a mural made from old photographs of the village. Village council, parks committee, and recurring garage-sale and holiday events fill out the local calendar. Those pieces keep the railroad past present in Walbridge’s parks, library, and street grid. The local scoop is a Toledo-area rail village where the old transport network still shows up in the places residents use now.
