Wales, AK

Wales is a small city in the Nome Census Area, Alaska, situated on Cape Prince of Wales at the westernmost point of the North American mainland. With a population of about one hundred and seventy residents, this remote community sits on the western tip of the Seward Peninsula. A local burial mound from the prehistoric Birnirk culture is located nearby and has been designated a National Historic Landmark. Local children attend schools in the Bering Strait School District.
