Waleska, GA

Waleska is a small city in northern Cherokee County where State Routes 140 and 108 meet. The 2020 census counted 921 residents, but the place feels larger when Reinhardt University is in session. The university's 620-acre campus sits right in town, bringing residence halls, classrooms, playing fields, arts, and the Funk Heritage Center into the local picture. Canton is about seven miles southeast, while Atlanta is roughly 48 miles south, so Waleska has a mountain-edge setting without being cut off from the metro. The name carries Cherokee history.
