Wallace Ridge, LA

Wallace Ridge is an unincorporated community in Catahoula Parish, on the west side of the Ouachita River. The settlement sits among former river channels and lowland woods: Tew Lake occupies the northern part of the community, Wallace Lake borders the south, and the original homes of Wallace Ridge stand on higher ground north of Tew Lake. Louisiana Highway 124 passes through, linking the community with Harrisonburg to the north and Jonesville to the south.

The lakes are the defining local feature. Tew Lake is an oxbow of the Ouachita, and its shoreline also holds a cluster of ancient Native American mounds recognized in Louisiana’s archaeological driving trail. The surrounding parish map is a mix of bayous, sloughs, timber, farms, and river roads, with the Ouachita shaping drainage and travel. The river’s old channels still guide access and drainage. Wallace Ridge feels like a community held between water lines: a highway through the parish, old river bends around the homes, and Catahoula’s layered landscape stretching in every direction.
