Walton, NE

Walton is an unincorporated Lancaster County census-designated place just east of Lincoln, with U.S. 34 along its northern edge and Stevens Creek draining the eastern side toward the Platte River. A post office was established here in 1880, and the place was named for A. Walton, a pioneer settler. The Cornhusker Council of the Boy Scouts has its headquarters and Outdoor Education Center in Walton, giving the community an institutional landmark beyond the highway. Walton sits in Waverly School District 145, but the Lincoln city line is only a few miles west. It is a prairie-edge place with a post-office beginning, a creek boundary, and a modern scouting center.
