About Wanaque

Wanaque is a Passaic County borough in northern New Jersey, sitting near reservoirs, wooded hills, and the edge of the Ramapo Mountains. It became its own borough in 1918 when Pompton Township was split into several communities, and it still has a more outdoors-adjacent feel than many inner New Jersey suburbs. Back Beach Park, the Indian Hills Trail, and the nearby Wanaque Reservoir help define the local landscape. The borough is residential, but its setting gives it a quieter, more tucked-away character.
