About Wann

Wann is a Saunders County CDP in the Marble Precinct, where the Platte River bounds the county and low rolling farmland slopes toward the river valley. The town grew along the Sioux City and Western Railroad; by 1905 the townsite was laid out and the line finished. A general-store post office opened in 1908 and moved among a store, barber shop, bank building, and homes before closing in 1950; rural mail then came from Ashland. The school and church became Wann's enduring institutions, and by the 1960s the old church hall hosted aid meetings and community gatherings. Wann remains a rail-and-farm settlement whose civic references sit close to the road and church.
