About Wapato

Wapato is a city in Yakima County, Washington, situated within the external boundaries of the Yakama Indian Reservation. Founded in 1885 by postmaster Alexander McCredy under the name Simcoe, the agricultural community of approximately 4,538 is served by the Wapato School District for public primary and secondary education locally.
