About Warren Park
Warren Park is an included town on Indianapolis's east side, six miles from downtown in Warren Township. It was platted in 1913 and absorbed into Indianapolis's Unigov system in 1970, but it kept a functioning town government under Indiana law. That makes the place a small municipality sitting inside a large city: Warren Park has its own town government while Indianapolis surrounds it. Pleasant Run flows along the west side before joining the White River, and Hawthorne Elementary serves the town through Warren Township Metropolitan School District. The town is bounded by 16th Street, Shadeland Avenue, 10th Street, and Perry Drive, a tight eastside footprint that gives it a city-within-a-city character. Warren Park is a 1913 town carried forward through Unigov, with a creek on one side and Indianapolis all around it.
