About Warren

Warren is a Tyler County census-designated place and unincorporated community about 13 miles south of Woodville, reached from U.S. Highways 69 and 287 and County Road 1550. The town began in 1882, when Alexander Young of Warren, Pennsylvania, arrived to build a sawmill beside the Texas and New Orleans Railway. Pine and hardwood forests supplied the early economy, and the rail line gave the settlement a reason to grow. Its ZIP code is 77664 today.

Warren Independent School District serves the surrounding area, with the local FFA chapter carrying the agricultural side of community life into the present. A former fire tower once gave a lookout over Tyler County's forests, and the Goolsbee Store served as a long-running local business after the Warren Lumber Company changed hands. Today the highway, school, forest, and old rail corridor still describe Warren better than a simple dot on a map: it is a small East Texas service community shaped by timber and transportation.
