Warsaw, OH

Warsaw is a Coshocton County village of 624 people at the 2020 census, set along the Walhonding River in western Ohio. The village was laid out in 1834 and named for Warsaw, the capital of Poland. Its location in the Walhonding Valley gives the name a very local setting: a planned village surrounded by river country and the older routes that follow the valley.

Water transportation became part of the village's early story. The Walhonding Valley Historical Society records a canal era from 1836 to 1896, placing Warsaw in a period when the river corridor carried more than scenery. Today the village's official history describes it as a statutory village under the Ohio Revised Code, while the river remains the clearest geographic reference. Warsaw is a small Coshocton County place whose map joins a Polish namesake, a nineteenth-century layout, and a valley shaped by water and transport.
