Washington Crossing, NJ

Washington Crossing is a Mercer County census-designated place on the east bank of the Delaware River, where Washington’s Continental Army landed in New Jersey after crossing the river on Christmas night in 1776. Washington Crossing State Park sits beside the community, while the Pennsylvania historic park is across the river. Route 29 follows the New Jersey bank toward Trenton and Lambertville. Washington Crossing is a small river place carrying a very large Revolutionary-era marker: the landing, the park, and the Delaware all point to the same night.
