About Wasilla
Wasilla is one of Alaska's larger cities, set in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley north of Cook Inlet and tied closely to the Anchorage commuter orbit. It began as a transportation, trade, and resource-extraction service center, then grew rapidly after the Parks Highway improved access. The Iditarod Trail Committee headquarters are in Wasilla, giving the city a clear connection to Alaska's best-known sled dog race. Wasilla feels practical, spread out, and deeply Mat-Su: more road-linked than remote.
