About Watertown

Watertown is the county seat of Jefferson County in northern New York, named for its position on the Black River. The river powered early industry and still gives the city much of its shape. Watertown serves as a regional hub for the North Country, including nearby Fort Drum, Lake Ontario communities, and the Thousand Islands area. Flower Memorial Library, built in 1904 by Emma Flower Taylor, is one of its notable civic landmarks. Watertown feels sturdy, cold-weather, and practical, with deep upstate roots.
