Watterson Park, KY

Watterson Park is a home-rule city in central Jefferson County, set between Poplar Level Road and Newburg Road just south of Interstate 264. The roads define the small city more clearly than a downtown does: Poplar Level forms part of the southwest edge, Newburg the northeast, and the Watterson Expressway carries regional traffic just north. The 2020 census counted 1,004 residents.

The city's business map is unusually large for its footprint. Watterson Park is home to Yum! Brands' corporate headquarters, along with restaurants, schools, motels, printers, warehouses, manufacturers, and construction firms. City council uses the Jefferson County Farm Bureau for its monthly meetings, while municipal records, sanitation schedules, code enforcement, and neighborhood notices keep the city running beside Louisville's larger government. Street trees, curbside services, and council notices fill in the spaces between those commercial addresses for residents and businesses. Watterson Park has also been a Tree City USA community since 2001, giving its road-and-business landscape a layer of municipal forestry.
