Wautoma, WI

Wautoma is Waushara County’s seat, a Wisconsin city spread across three noncontiguous pieces inside the surrounding towns of Wautoma and Dakota. The unusual boundary map is only part of the local story. Wautoma also carries a Christmas-tree reputation rooted in the Kirk Company’s large plantation, begun in 1953. The county seat and tree-growing history sit side by side here: one is written into the courthouse map, the other into the farms and tree lots around town.
