Wayland is a friendly small town of around a thousand people in southeast Iowa, located about ten miles south of Washington and an easy twenty-minute drive from Mount Pleasant. Everyday conveniences are close together near the center of town, including the local library, fitness center, community center, and WACO High School. Families get plenty of use out of West Park, which features a playground, a summer splash pad, and a paved walking trail around the wetlands.
