Waynesfield, OH

Waynesfield is an Auglaize County village founded on July 1, 1848. The 2020 census counted 749 residents, and the village is part of the Wapakoneta micropolitan area. Its strongest shared institution is Waynesfield-Goshen Local Schools, which brings preschool through high school into one PK–12 building. The Tigers compete in the Northwest Central Conference, giving school athletics a visible place in the rhythm of the village. The single-building campus makes the school easy to recognize as the village's main gathering point.

Waynesfield also has a branch of the Auglaize County Public Library and a small motor-sports tradition south of town at Waynesfield Raceway Park. The raceway's dirt oval adds a distinctly local kind of weekend noise to a community otherwise surrounded by farm roads and open fields. The combination of one school building, one library branch, and a village founded before the Civil War gives Waynesfield a straightforward sense of scale. It is a place where school, township roads, and local competition still provide most of the landmarks people use to describe home.
