Welcome is a small, quiet community tucked along the west bank of the Mississippi River in St. James Parish, roughly halfway between New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Life here revolves around Highway 18 and the levee, bordered by open sugarcane fields and deep-rooted local history. With fewer than 700 residents, it has a peaceful, rural rhythm where neighbors know each other and River Parish traditions run deep, from the area's rare Perique tobacco farming to lighting towering bonfires along the river on Christmas Eve.
