Weleetka, OK

Weleetka sits right along a sweeping bend of the North Canadian River in Okfuskee County, about ten miles southeast of Okemah. Its name comes from the Muscogee Creek word for "running water," reflecting the quiet waterways and rolling countryside that surround the area. The town originally sprang up in the early 1900s as a bustling rail stop, quickly filling with stores, banks, and neighborhood markets to serve local farming families.
